Speaking of SEAMUS' new sig, the forums have been acting a little funky lately. Like if you go to edit a post with a quotation mark in it, the quotation mark will appear as an ampersand code ( &quøt ...yeah something like that...) instead of the usual ( " ). What happened?
And for some reason I can't think of anything crazy this week, so have some Metallica instead. Yes, I know...Lars is a butthead. But have some Metallica anyway.

Yay, I get to go back to work and watch more TV, including Metalocalypse, which is awesome.
Even though Nathan Explosion and Charles Foster Ofdensen (their straight-laced and overworked manager) are my favorite characters, Toki Wartooth takes the bronze in my book. He's the one sweet, nice, lovable guy in the band...
...so naturally the show screws with him and emotionally traumatizes poor Toki whenever possible.
Anyway, the Metal Tune of the Week: The Comet Song, by Dethklok. I can't believe I missed this one before.
...or, if you prefer the pure, complete and unusually loud version:
Yes, it's two days early...which should make up for one of those times when I got around to doing this two days late, right?

Getting into Epica here this week.
Yes, I have a thing for symphonic metal. Look at that! They have violins. Violins and electric guitars sound pretty snazzy together. Now if only they could have found a place to squeeze a pipe organ in....
I need to look into Arch Enemy too. Back to YouTube I go...as soon as I can stop and chill for a while longer. I'm building a bookshelf!
If nothing else, I have my books in my car. Work might be slow enough to get caught up on all the HoA replies tonight. But man, this living room smells like treated particle board so much....

Well, seeing as i've been away and this is a good thread, I thought I might add to it once more.
I recently found this band, but they've been around for a while. Anways, this was the song that introduced me to them and more importantly, the clip. I've got mixed feelings for the band as a whole, but this song is pretty awesome.
Enjoy.

Okay, Wraith, I see your groovy The Bird and the Worm and raise you Kamelot's The Haunting!
So I guess I'm only one week behind now. How about one of Sinergy's metalized covers (which also happens to be pretty much Sinergy's only good song, and that's only because the incomparable Pat Benetar wrote it and Sinergy didn't)?
Okay, now I'm caught up for the next two days. Excellent!

Yeah, okay, I fell behind again. Here's where I fix that.
This week, it's video game tunes! Yay!
Megadeth's version of the Duke Nukem theme
Sonic Mayhem's Descent into Cerberon (from the first level of Quake II, and lo, how every newcomer to Quake II was forged in its fires amid a hail of steel and blood...)
Sonic Mayhem's Quad Machine (from Quake II)
Sonic Mayhem's Operation Overlord (from Quake II)
Sonic Mayhem's Kill Ratio (from Quake II)
Sonic Mayhem's Rage (...guess what? Quake II! )
Yeah, I got the idea while chatting with SEAMUS on Steam a few days back. Hey, SEAMUS! Remember this?
Anyway, am I caught up yet?

More Dethklok! But you wanted it anyway, right?
Boobies are cool. So is ridiculous-level ultraviolence in cartoons.
But seriously...all of a sudden I want to break out my old Changeling: The Dreaming and Blood-Dimmed Tides books again. Supposedly the battles between the half-fish Merfolk and the half-crustacean or half-mollusk Murdhuacha got to be like this sometimes (minus the laser weapons, the acid and the blunt weapons which tend to work very poorly underwater, of course)....
And if I go there, I might as well do something with my old Unquiet Waters campaign, right? Like revive it or convert it from email to forums or something. Hmm.
Also, Season 4 of Metalocalypse is coming out next month! Yay!

Eh, I should probably add something too
I found this band when I wanted to know what song was playing during the Expendables (GREATEST MOVIE EVER) trailer. It was called Diamond Eyes (Boom Lay Boom) by Shinedown. Then I explored a little more and found this absolute gem and currently my favourite song - that is until I get my hands on Disturb's Asylum!
Here it is - I had to upload it myself, lol.

Because if you can't laugh at the Grim Unusually Jolly Reaper shreddin' turf on a dirt bike amid the juxtaposition of kickin' metal riffs and graphics that look like they were ripped from an Olde-Timey woodcut, what can you laugh at?
Of course, if you're just in it for the tunes, then feel free to skip all the skulls, souls, tricks and giant floating disembodied Queen Victoria heads and just go gunning right for the guillotine every stage. The Stage 1-4 theme is my fave.
But it's a fun game. Kicking the tip of a ramp and getting enough air to pull off a Bone Home and a 720--and decapitate a bird--on the way down just gives you that special swell of pride. And believe me, those birds are the biggest pain. They're small, they fly, they don't take off half the time, they're hard to hit and they're only worth half as much as the baby carriage mothers and guys on velocipedes. And you have to kill them if you want a perfect score.
Anyway, I have to do the dishes and fetch dinner now. I'll be back after that. Peace!

Oh, yeah...this week (or, rather, last week), Arch Enemy!
It's hard to believe that that's a woman doing lead vocals, huh? Angela Gossow's harsh like that.

Hey, look! I'm on time this week!
To celebrate, here! Have a little The Other Side by Sirenia, will you?
Glee for that video's whole Charon-and-Styx theme. Greek mythology may not be as metal as Norse mythology, but it gets pretty metal nonetheless.

I love it when you contribute, Wraith.
(You would think that a glass-top coffin would suck for in-ground burial, though; you pile six feet of earth on top of it, the glass gives way under all that weight and it breaks and caves in...kind of defeats the purpose of using a coffin in the first place, doesn't it? Unless you use some good, tempered glass that wouldn't break if a couple of pro-wrestlers took turns piledriving and powerbombing each other on top of it, maybe.)
This week, in a somewhat related "Mark Antony's funeral speech in Julius Caesar" sort of way: The Evil That Men Do.
The Iron Maiden original:
...the After Forever cover:
...and the Moonville cover:
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (and a testament to a song's greatness). Isn't it nice when a cover does the original justice?

For last week: Dethklok's Awaken.
For this week: Blind Guardian's Battlefield.
It's amazing what you can hear just from watching Adult Swim, isn't it?

Nice... all nice selections. I'm having trouble choosing my favourite "The Evil that Men Do"....
Moonville I think get my vote, but After Forever have always been delicious
The original? Ummm.... yeah.... third. LOL!

Too bad After Forever broke up last year, huh? I have their concept album, Invisible Circles...great songs, but the male vocalist in the "acting" parts sounds like an utterly laughable supreme dork, not the least bit menacing like he's supposed to sound. But Floor was good, as always.
And now, a special for this week: When Metal Bands Play Non-Metal Songs.
Nightwish - The Islander
Kamelot - Helena's Theme
(As I recall, that's Simone Simons from Epica singing lead vocals. Kamelot has no female vocalists of their own, but the two bands have worked together several times in the past.)
Now you try.

Huzzah. That's the spirit!
So which song were you looking for originally? It may be hosted on another site; we all know how axe-crazy YouTube has gotten about copyright-ophobia ever since Google bought them out. Just look at all those "This video has been removed" blurbs back on Page 1 & 2 of this thread.
I've been meaning to fix those, by the way....

Yeah, the studio recording of any given song always sounds cleaner, sharper and more pure and free from background noise, and people like you and me prefer those published recordings. But other people out there prefer the chaos and the spirit of the song's live versions. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Oops! I let this thread slide for a bit, too. Again, apologies.
This time around, I was poking around at work and watching clips from both Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and Superman II on YouTube. Before long, one thing led to another and I found myself reading the Wikipedia articles on General Zod, Non and Ursa. And from there, I found a link to Kneel to Zod, a low-tier yet pretty good metal band in Maryland.
Also, check this out. I don't know about you, but he's got my vote in 2012!
