| I should have made this thread sooner, but here it is now. Enjoy! Also, I'm still working on the character generation topic...but it shouldn't be too much longer, with most of the work ahead of me being mere copy-pasting. I'll confirm here when the topic is finished, but don't think that you have to wait until the topic's completely finished if you want to try getting a head start. | |

| Yeah. It'll give everyone else a chance to A) see what Corwin's story (and anyone else's prologue) is like, B) catch up with Corwin, who's about a parsec ahead of everyone else right now, and C) refresh my memory on all the fine little details of Corwin's story, since my mind does start to wander after a four- or five-month pause. | |

| Wow... I've just been reading on the stuff done so far. I'm very interested in your storyline, Ainsley, its very detailed and I love that. I can't wait to start. I was actually thinking that I'd like to be an outsider.. a necromancer - but of which I'm not sure. I'll see what else comes up in the character creation thread Heh... I've always been either a magic or ranged type. | |

Sorry. It was one of those "busy with doing absolutely nothing of great import around the neighborhood" weekends. I'm back on the clock now.

Heh... I've always been either a magic or ranged type. That all sounds pretty good to me; archers and spellcasters have as much place in a party as sword-swingers do. Back at the CoHGuru forums, two of the original six characters were Vesperanti, called to Saturninity Hill to finish interring the dead who remained unburied and to unravel the Curse of the House of Ainsley (which, for whatever his reasons, Lord Darrovan did not describe).
One necromancer was a human woman, the other was a male dark elf (or drow elf) whose pecular taste in necrophilia led to events that got him cast out of drow society under threat of execution if he ever returned to the Underdark; fortunately, he had learned to be an expert mortician in the Underdark (an in-demand profession--thanks to the constant warring among drow tribes in the Underdark--and one which catered to his demented carnal appetites quite handily, at that). The tunnel through which he fled the Underdark led into a long-neglected crypt, which was where the Vesperanti found him. And after months of "talking shop" with the drow elf about the mortician's craft and witnessing his skill at it, the drow elf was welcomed into the Vesperanti. At first disdaining their humble status, he tried to join the austere ranks of the Dark College of Morribord, but the College scowled upon his drow heritage and rejected him. And so he returned to the Vesperanti and remained with them...at least until the present time of the campaign.
Because there were two Vesperanti in the campaign, I decided to give them a "three for the price of two" offer and gave them three Vesperanti laborers: a gravedigger, a monument sculptor and a bonecarver, each useful in various ways. The human Tiliana's player apparently died in a car accident before the campaign could begin in earnest, but the dark elf Antinidia got to keep all three of the laborers (far be it from me to reverse a freely given decision) and did quite well on his long journey towards Bardosylvania, even singlehandedly slaying a young night hag who had enchanted his entire party into a deep slumber, along with two would-be thieves who had come to the hag's cottage to steal a jetsammed coin coffer from her well. Antinidia, being an elf, was soon able to shrug off the enchantment and confront the hag before she could get around to killing all of them as they slept and feeding her ghostly companion with their life forces. It was pretty cool.
So anyway, I'll get back to work and you can proceed along with me in character creation, however you like. And, as always, feel free to speak up with any questions or concerns.

Yep...though I'm not terribly anal about it, so the party could also have, say, a cleric of Pelor, a cleric of Vecna or a cleric of Evening Glory. Clerics of good deities would have to be Ainsley family members; very few Good clerics from the outside would choose diplomacy with the Ainsleys over attacking them, fleeing or running to get help. And having player-characters immediately setting upon and killing each other in Chapter One would kind of suck. But I'd definitely have to say no to someone wanting to roll up another cleric of the Devourer. The Devourer's cults are supposed to be rare anyway, right? I'm about to bed down for the night, so here comes another Chapter Zero post or two. Sorry I didn't get much done this weekend, everyone.

that and we'd spend the campaing trying to out alpha-wolf each other. It gets even worse with Chaotic clerics and deities, too. What was the Devourer's Alignment again? I can't seem to Google it at the moment....

| Well, I've been lying around sick (and dragging myself into work) for the past few days. I think I'm just about done with this bug, though, and tomorrow's the first of my three days off. Let's see if I can wrap up the character creation thread, shall we? - S.E.A.M.U.S wrote:

Eberron! That's where we'd found him/her/it. Thanks. So Corwin was of the Lawful persuasion, then? - Wraith wrote:

| So, okay, stupid question.
Once we decide what character we want to be - of what class and envocation - race, rank etc - how are the 'rolls' done for them? Do we give it to you? Or do it ourselves? Or - hrm... newbie.

Once we decide what character we want to be - of what class and envocation - race, rank etc - how are the 'rolls' done for them? Do we give it to you? Or do it ourselves? Or - hrm... newbie. I'll actually offer both options to the players. In one post I'll offer an assortment of Ablities rolls--randomized scores for Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma, and perhaps starting wealth as well. If the players would prefer to roll their own, this forum does have an open-view dice roll system; players would just roll 4d6 (four six-siders) six times and drop the lowest die from each roll. Whichever way the players go, they would also have the option to swap any two Ability scores. It would be a bit frustrating for a player who wanted to play a Rogue (a class which relies heavily on Dexterity) to roll up a Dexterity of 8 and a Strength of 17. Sure, a rogue would find a high Strength useful--any character could--but high Strength and low Dexterity combination would serve a Fighter or a Paladin far better than it would serve a Rogue. So we give the rogue-loving player a chance to swap two Ability scores. One swap later, and voila! Her Rogue has a Strength of 8 and a Dexterity of 17. Don't expect that rogue to drag a 300-pound golden idol out of an ancient temple by herself, but tightroping across a chasm and disarming all 50 traps between her and that temple's treasure hoard would be rather easy for such a rogue. - S.E.A.M.U.S wrote:

| IT IS FINISHED!!! ...well, finished enough for character creation to begin. Please use the worktable topic for character creation, just so I have all of you in one convenient place. That should help me quickly and easily attend to anyone who needs help with any step of the process. And if you need to consult the character creation topic and the worktable topic at the same time, the easiest way to do that is to pop open a second window with Ctrl+N or the like. How does that sound? | |

| 10d6 is ten 6 sided dice.
the first number is usually the number of dice, and the number after the "D" is how many sides the dice has.
10d6 is ten 6 sided dice.
8d4 is eight 4 sided dice
15d30 is fifteen 30 sided dice.
a d% is to get a percentage. one ten sided die for the tens spot, and one 10 sider for the ones spot
for instance a roll of 7 on the "tens" die and a roll of 3 on the "ones" die would be 73

"Chooks"? Is that what the people Down Under call chickens? I like that. And yes, dead chicks do indeed suck. I lost one to coccydosis (or however it's spelled). Try to imagine massive diarrhea coming out both ends of the chick at the same time. The poor little puffball never had a chance after that happened. And SEAMUS nailed it. A d4 is a four-sided die, a d20 is a twenty-sider, and so on. Also, Mom invited herself to Canton and she's in town until the 4th, so between her and my job I haven't had much computer time. I'll try to get in a few posts when I can, but I won't be able to post regularly until the 4th or the 5th. At least my "chookhouse" is finished, though. Photos are a-coming.

I'm hoping that tomorrow's a bit more open for me, though. Also, Wraith, did you come up with a name for your cleric yet? P.S. Hero Machine is a simple way to doodle up your characters! Give it a try.

As for my cleric... do elves have one name or two?
If so one would be Silvea
and two would be Silvea Aringerille
And my sister's name would be Ariean

And my sister's name would be Ariean I favor the first-and-last name format, and Silvea and Ariean Aringerille has a certain ring to it. Let's go with that. Also, GD, in regard to your PM, is this your HeroMachine version of your character? And yes, elven bones are quite easy to work with. But getting the elf to part with them is the hard part.
