| As a side thought, do you have a name for your race?
Wolfkin, Lupins, Wolfoids, DoggieDoods?
Just can't be 'Werewolves', 'Garou' or 'Wolfen' as they already 'exist'.
Thanx | |

| Okay, I'm finally getting back in the saddle (Happy Givingmas Year, everyone), and I'm halfway through my next post for the frost giants. But I have to go to work now, and as we all know, I can't access IV from work. But I just realized that our resort offers WiFi internet service which does not go through Craig, his hub and his WatchGuard bot. And I have the keys to the WiFi, too! So if I can shell out about $300 for a new laptop and a wireless internet jack, that might change. But for now, I'm off to work. See you tomorrow! | |

| I'm back....work situation has finally changed enough so I have some time for other things..It could change again. I know it will as projects change, but for the next few months I shall have enough down time. I know I told our host weeks back I would return, but finally I'm here if only to make the gesture. | |

| Cleaned up and edited by me from previous additions. If our host approves perhaps some of you will find them useful.
Useful Structures To give you prespective and ideas for construction.
The Hut
The most basic of structures for slave, peasant, and poor warrior alike. Built from wood with a thatched roof it has a cooking stone with a hole in the roof. It has a wood door which will barely keeps out an attacker and the floor is off earth. It holds one family and has a storage bins for food and tools outside.
Peasants and slaves
The Large Hut
Basically size of three huts grouped together with an actual chimmy for cooking and a store room for tools and food. It has stronger doors that can protect those inside and has a wood floor. Another important feature is a garden that can feed the family that lives there. Pen for animals and a fence around the hut are common.
Peasants, slaves, soldiers
The Farm House
The large hut doubled in size and much nicer. It has a larger store room, and a workshop to make tools and basic weapons. It has a garden and a field for growing crops or a space to graze livestock, and a large shed or a barn. These homes also have a shrine that needs to be tended by a priest, but can be used to create minor religious items. Alternatives include fruit trees, trees for harvesting, or take away the field (can keep the garden) and add a dock and boat house you have a fishing operation. These are good stone and wood structures and they show that your people have prospered. There is also an area to brew spirits. These also offer those dwelling inside more privacy.
Peasant and Middle class, officers
The Fortified Farm
The farm house design on steriods. Thicker walls and strong thick double doors. Larger store rooms, and two workshops, one for tools and another for weapons (armor and hand weapons only). The will also have a chapel dedicated primarily to one god, but there might be shrines inside to other Gods and there is a low level priest. There will be a training area near the fields and targets for missile weapons. There will be a barn and grazing area if they are cavalry troops. There is a brew house which a place to brew spirits and a place to sit and drink and meet.
These are really a cluster of small farms that are walled in and have several families and farm workers (slaves or hired help) band together. The compound is surrounded by a stone or wood wall and has two months of supplies at any even time. While these structures are seldom seen within cities and towns they're highly popular on the the frontier or the coast where people have to defend themselves.
veteran soldiers and officers, middle class
The Manor House
If the fortified farm is geared towards war and defense the manor house is geared to making money. Manor houses have double the fields and gardens a farm house has and grazing space for animals and there are plenty of store rooms to keep large amounts of supplies. There is one large workshop for mass producing tools or weapons and a smaller for household items. There is a large brew house for storing and making of spirits whether it is wine or beer and there is a hall to drink and meet in. There is also a chapel with a full time priest and students and education for the children. The chapel has its own garden and store room.
This land pays for itself like all farms, but it turns a profit and your middle class and nobles ususally call them home. It depends on the owner, but their defenses are similar to the fortified farm, but not as extensive.
Religious Buildings
Shrines
A small shrine setup to your God of choice with a place to pray. It helps a priest perform rituals and create special items.
Chapel
About to hold several shrines and an alter it is an indoor place for religious ceremony, meetings, and learning. It needs a full time priest and staff to tend it, but it has benefits and priests can be trained there. It is a good place to perform rituals and create items and ususally has several holy items stored there.
Church
The size of three chapels with several priests. It is a place for meetings and worship and has a library, alter, and shrines. The gardens can provide enough for the church and a little extra. There is also a brew house for wine and beer and a large workshop which is high quality to help produce holy items. The church will have guards and possibly organize local peasant worshippers into a militia if their is a crisis. Other buildings include residents for the staff both laymen and priests, priestess and intiates. It is also common to have tombs as well as grave yard, and a school house.

| So who here is still interested? I know I am and I have to say I'm in great creative company. Well I hope everyone is well and enjoying their summer. I'm merely taking a break from work duties, but I regularly check back in. I might even consider running a similar thread.
Be well and keep your powder dry.

| Groovy! Fight - Snow is good! 1) Build the largest slingshot ever. If frost giants are building it, it has to be pretty big. 2) Plant it in the rock at the highest summit around and aim it in the direction of Baltral. 3) Get a team of twelve giants to roll the biggest snowball ever and load it into the biggest slingshot ever. Make sure that the snowball has plenty of ice in it, just to be a bastard. 4) Calculate range, azimuth and bearing, factoring in any crosswind. 5) Let 'er rip. 6) Repeat Steps 3 through 5 until Baltral takes a direct hit, then go to Step 7. 7) Aim the giant slingshot in the direction of Minotaurland. 8 ) Repeat Steps 3 through 5 until Minotaurland takes a direct hit, then go to Step 9. 9) Aim the giant slingshot in the direction of Doggiedoodz County. 10) Repeat Steps 3 through 5 until Doggiedoodz County takes a direct hit, then go to Step 11. 11) Pressure SEAMUS into wrapping up his smurf-created golems. 12) MORE SNOWBALLS!!! 13) Win. | |

Good fun...a classic. I hope our friend is safe in his duties.

| Yay! Welcome back Jagged We're always happy when old friends return for more fun All of our thoughts are with GD at the moment (well, I know mine are) and it shouldn't be too much trouble to get this forum going again. Have another look around and see if you spy anything else you're interested in. Also, although Universes is currently closed, have a think about whether you would eventually like to join Good to see you, Mate. | |

I'm always looking for interesting things on the web...I'm sure I will find something fun.
Good to hear back from a friend...

| I hope that GD's okay, too. From the sounds of my PMs with him, it sounds like he's all right...just short on internet time, that's all. I'd like to see Jazman (his wife back home) come back to the forums too. But wherever GD is, I (and my frost giants, soon to be your overlords...) will be waiting for him. | |

| That is so enjoying when an employer makes you devote the majority of your time to work...I've always told him he does important work though.
I look forward to the advancement of the game...and if he confirms my suggestions.
Such as life online or real time...people get distracted from the fun.

Yes, I still lurk here and there. I really should devote more time to all of this, but I really don't have much time...or energy...or motivation... *blah*
But you never know, I haven't given up on the site yet!
