| Those goons at 4chan actually came up with something enjoyable and non-obnoxious for once. Y'all should have gotten the PMs about my return to the forums already, so this should help spark a little life into the forums while I finish unpacking my game tote again. The rules are simple enough...and after that vexing snafu in the Hangman thread, I'm rather glad for that. So here's how we can use the mighty internet to create our own (imaginary) album covers: 1) Go to Wikipedia and click "Random Article". That is your band name.(Convenient link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random ) 2) Go to Wikiquote, click "Random Article" and pick a quote. The last 3-5 words of that quote are your album title.(Convenient link: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Special:Random ) 3) Go to Flickr's "Last 7 Days" page. The fifth image is your album art image.(Convenient link: http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/ ) 4) For bonus style points, compile the whole mess together with the graphics editor of your choice. For that extra dash of authenticity, use this template (which is the size of a typical CD case's album insert):5) Upload it to your favorite image-hosting site so we can all see the fruits of your genius. ...and... GO! | |

| What's that? Go first? Don't mind if I do! This is pretty fun, actually. It's a bit of an exercise in creativity: Take these three elements which very likely have absolutely nothing in common with each other, and make them blend. As you can see, some of them came together quite nicely, and they look like something which might actually be found in the CD aisles at Target. Others...not so much; the elements were simply too far different for any attractive compromise. But I like to think that most of them look good. The quote for that last pseudo-album came from Blood Feast--a gory horror movie, not the least bit romantic--which just goes to show how much you can do with a combination of choosiness and the right text effects for the mood you're trying to evoke. Now you try. | |
